Questions parents ask

Which grade should I choose?

Choose the grade your child is in now. The placement check then sets the level inside that grade. In England, Grade 1 matches Year 2, Grade 2 matches Year 3, Grade 3 matches Year 4 and Grade 4 matches Year 5.

How and when do I get the PDF?

Straight after paying, you come back to your download page, where the PDF is usually ready within 2 minutes. We also email the link from hello@pencilpace.com, and Lemon Squeezy emails your receipt. The download page works for 12 months; save the PDF and it is yours to keep.

What if the level turns out to be wrong?

Use the first week as the test. If your child finishes Monday’s sheet in a few minutes without mistakes, or is stuck on most problems, email hello@pencilpace.com within 14 days with the email you paid with. We will make the pack again at another level for free, or refund you in full if you prefer.

Does it follow the school curriculum?

It practises the number and calculation part of what curricula such as the National Curriculum in England and the US Common Core expect in each grade. It is not mapped objective by objective to any national curriculum, and it does not cover shapes, measures, time, money, statistics or word problems. It is home practice alongside school, not a replacement for lessons.

How long does one sheet take?

About 10 to 15 minutes. Support sheets have 12 problems, core sheets 16 and stretch sheets 20. Thursday and Friday sheets are a step harder than Monday’s.

What if it isn’t right for us?

Email hello@pencilpace.com within 14 days of purchase and we refund the full €19. No reason needed and nothing to send back. The refund goes to your original payment method through Lemon Squeezy, usually within 5 to 10 working days.

How do I pay, and is VAT included?

Checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, who sell the pack on our behalf and handle payment and tax, so your receipt comes from them. You can pay by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay where available. The price includes VAT or sales tax where it applies, and the checkout shows the final total before you pay. Prices are in euros; if your card is in another currency, your bank converts it.

Can I use it for more than one child?

Each pack is made for one child: one name, one level, one grade. Brothers and sisters need their own pack, which takes a couple of minutes to build. You can reprint your own pack as often as you like, for extra practice or a spare copy.

What do you keep about my child?

Only the first name you choose to print, if any, so the pack can be downloaded again. It is deleted automatically 12 months after purchase together with the PDF and your email, or sooner if you ask privacy@pencilpace.com. There are no accounts and no advertising cookies, and placement check answers never leave your browser.

Who writes the problems?

Code does. Each skill is a small generator that computes the answer together with the problem, and before every release an independent solver works out thousands of generated problems again from their printed text and checks them against the generator’s answers. No AI writes or checks the maths.
